The main design objectives for Transwestern’s relocation were a successful shift from offices to an open environment, facilitating collaboration between different departments and incorporating sustainability.
OTJ created an open environment that still provides individual privacy for staff. To help with the transition from private office to open workstations, the space has five team rooms that accommodate four to six people with iPad reservation systems, flat screen TVs, table-top video and network and Wi-Fi connections with keypad control. Bringing people together was another important focus. OTJ created a large multi-purpose area adjacent to the reception desk, pantry and conference rooms to encourage collaboration. This area can be used for large all staff meetings, informal meetings, lunch, coffee breaks and greeting visitors.
