Lobby Renvoation
For
the lobby renovation of 901 7th Street, NW, the historic Marlow Building,
we chose to
use the brick that was left from the demolition of part of the original
structure. The lobby actually occurs in the new expansion of the
earlier building. We also used re-claimed wood planking for the floor
of the lobby, which along with a new tin ceiling structure echo the
wood floors and tin ceilings remaining elsewhere in the building.
We then provided appropriate light levels with some interesting fixtures
and used a cable suspension system on each of the brick walls to
display information about the anchor tenant in the building, the
Washington DC Convention and Tourism Corporation. This gave them
the perfect backdrop to introduce the importance of the Washington
DC Convention and Tourism Corporation to the city as visitors enter
the building and wait for the elevator. On the non-brick walls, we
used multi-colored wood panels to add warmth to the lobby and the
other steel and glass systems.
