M ST - Lobby Renovation
This
building at 2030 M Street, NW in Washington, DC is owned by the
American Legacy Foundation. The
building has multiple tenants, in addition to housing the headquarters
of the
American Legacy Foundation so the Foundation wanted to achieve
two things. They wanted a reception area for guest check-in and
a great waiting area for their clients, board members and vendors
as they
check
in prior to being escorted to American Legacy Foundation’s headquarters
on the 6th floor. We created a comfortable waiting area as well as
a reception desk complete with an electronic directory of the building
tenants. Cable television was incorporated into the reception desk
so that world news events can be displayed for those waiting in the
lobby, or the system can be customized to display information about
American Legacy or special events by other companies in the building.
The glass panel behind the reception desk displays a very subtle etched
map of the world, which relates to one of American Legacy’s
programs, a campaign for the year 2030. A custom art piece
was commissioned to
balance the seating group and the reception area and to add
interest to the space. The art piece and a floor covering under
the seating
area help to soften and add warmth to the stone and other hard
surfaces. The ceiling was renovated to provide some interest
and to draw attention
to the path to the elevators.
