Department of Homeland Security – Immigrations and Customs Enforcement

Arlington, VA

The office building selected to house DHS ICE consists of standard office space with large columns 20 feet apart in the center of the floor plate and unusual angles on both floors, which created many challenges for incorporating all of the desired functions required by the program. OTJ’s goal was to create a functional work environment with various levels of security and a 160 seat auditorium facility. Emphasis was placed on maximizing the amount of natural light that was allowed to enter the space to create an open working environment, which was accomplished by avoiding offices and other rooms along the perimeter as much as possible. Conference rooms of multiple sizes have the flexibility to vary their function from large teleconference areas, to training rooms, to secure operations.
