OTJ is proud to announce a LEED EB Operations & Maintenance Certified Project. Page Oelschig of OTJ’s Studio 4 led the LEED EB study and teamed with GPI Engineering to acquire certification for Silver Spring Plaza located at 8757 Georgia Avenue.
OTJ and GPI focused on several primary elements to achieve LEED Certification including: building energy efficiency, alternative transportation for employees, sustainable purchasing, solid waste management, environmental tobacco smoke control, high performance green cleaning policy, water efficiency, and building exterior and hardscape management plan.

Silver Spring Plaza has earned U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) prestigious ENERGY STAR, the national symbol for superior energy efficiency and environmental protection. The building is now listed as part of the EPA's on-line registry.
EPA's national energy performance rating system provides a 1-100 scale that helps organizations assess how efficiently their buildings use energy relative to similar buildings nationwide. A building that scores a rating of 75 or higher is eligible for the ENERGY STAR. Silver Spring Plaza (8757 Georgia Avenue) earned a score of 87 when benchmarked against all other commercial buildings in the nation.
